Administration/City Clerk
Kevin Fouts, City Clerk & Treasurer
The City Clerk’s office is located on the first floor of the Hueytown City Hall at 1318 Hueytown Road, Hueytown, Alabama. The office is open from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
The City Clerk attends meetings of the City Council and keeps a record of its proceedings. After the City Council has met in an official meeting and approved the preparation of the minutes to be true and correct, the minutes are open to the public. In the event minutes are required to be certified, the City Clerk is required to attest to the record as true and correct.
The City Council is required to hold at least two regular meetings each month. The Council President may call special meetings of the council whenever, in his or her opinion, the public interest requires it.
Official meetings of the City Council are open to the public. This includes any meetings of the council at which business of the city is transacted and officially determined, any council committee meetings, informal work sessions or similar informal meetings where a quorum of the council is present.
Municipal Records
Many documents at City Hall are public records and persons may request to see public records. The City Clerk is the custodian of municipal records. In order to view public documents or to obtain copies of documents, there is a standard request form required entitled “Request for Access and/or Copies of Public Records.” In 1992, the City of Hueytown established operating procedures in compliance with the Supreme Court of Alabama applicable to access of public records of the city. (Reference-Resolution 3912)
